8-bit songs
Here are some amazing pop songs covered in 8-bit Nintendo sound. They totally rock. Really, I can't see why any band needs more than 8 bits...

NASA ballet
A NASA scientist designed a robot with sensors that allow it to move around when an astronaut gets near it. For the demo there is a video of a ballerina dancing with it, which you can see if you follow the link.
Lumelsky envisions future skins with tens of thousands of infrared sensors able to withstand the extreme heat, cold and radiation of space travel. It's serious science, and Lumelsky, being a serious man, gave nary a thought to the fact that his prototype robot bears a striking resemblance to a giant phallus.link (Thanks Pete)

Michiru prize
Michiru Morikawa, who was on the illustration MA course at BIAD with me, has won a big manga prize."Michiru has a very rare talent" said Jemima Cattel of Hi8us Midlands Ltd "the elegance and maturity of her artwork is stunning, we are thrilled her abilities have been recognised.”link
This is the second year running that someone from the Hi8tus Midlands StripSearch scheme in Birmingham has won an award at this prestigious international event, which recognises the best comic illustrators in the world.
Asia Alfasi, the first female participant on the StripSearch scheme, last year beat some of the world’s finest illustrators to win US$5000 at the inaugral event.
Michiru has gone one step further winning the coveted overall best artist award "When I saw my name on the winners list on the IMAF website, I just thought 'What?? My name is here!' I’ve just started to realise how exciting it is, even now, it is so unreal to me - I won the big great prize!"
